Say hello to Powerwall 3
Its official Powerwall 3 is coming to the UK!
As an approved Powerwall installer, we were delighted to be invited to Birmingham for an exclusive installers-only event. The all-new Powerwall 3 was displayed in all of its glory!
Here's what we know so far...
- It looks sublime
- It is a hybrid inverter
- Increased performance to 11kw
- 6 x MPPTs
The main difference is the Powerwall 3 is designed to work directly in a hybrid format with solar and has a massive 11KW inverter built within the unit. For a domestic solar system, this is about as big as it gets.
With this setup, the power wall could have up to 25 – 30 panels connected to it.

Launching 2024!
We don't have an exact date yet, but we know from past Tesla products that they refine software and products before release. Unlike other manufacturers, Tesla is also almost worldwide, so the roll-out could take a while.
We can see in the U.S that costs are around 50% higher for installation, so around £12,000 - £14,000 installed vs. the Powerwall 2 being £8000 - £9000.

Look & Feel
From a size perspective, Powerwall 2 and 3 are very similar. The Powerwall 3 has a thicker body. Instead of the black finned sides on the Powerwall 2, the Powerwall 3 has a pressed metal side, making it look more industrial. Another key difference is the switch from the Tesla name to a logo.
The battery increases in mass from the current 125KG to 130KG but this is to make way for the hybrid inverter.
Performance
We know they both have a 13.5kw battery with 100% DOD. We expect the battery chemistry will likely change to lithium-ion phosphate to allow for longer life and more cycles. The marginal increase in round-trip efficiency from 93% to 97% would further compound this speculation.
Based on the American rollout of Powerwall 3, the warranty will match that of Powerwall 2 at ten years, with unlimited cycles.
